Harold Steven Spitzer and Thomas Allen Martin were married Saturday afternoon at their home in Hamden, Conn. William S. Nathanson, a Connecticut justice of the peace, officiated.
Mr. Spitzer (left), 67, is an architect in Hamden who, until 2006, was the president of a New York architecture firm that bore his name. He is the vice chairman of Alpha Workshops, a nonprofit studio in New York that specializes in faux finishes and gilding, makes wallpaper and fabrics and trains those who are H.I.V. positive in decorative arts design. He is also the chairman of the Professional Children’s School in New York, for children who work in the performing arts. He graduated from Cornell.
He is a son of the late Mabel A. Spitzer and Charles Spitzer, who lived in Miami Beach. His father was the general sales manager for Speidel, the watchband manufacturer in New York.
Mr. Martin, 55, teaches piano at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Conn., and gives lessons at his studio in Hamden. He is the organist at the First United Methodist Church in Meriden, Conn. He graduated from Oberlin and received a Master of Music in piano performance from Juilliard.
He is a son of the late Mercedes R. Martin and G. Richard Martin, who lived in Englewood, Fla. His father owned Martin Electric, an electrical contracting firm in New Haven.
